AN “ESPRESSO”? YOU’RE NOT FROM HERE

Many people are convinced that in Italy we drink espresso. Well. this is not thrue. In Italy we drink “caffè”. During your journey in Italy, you will not renounce to visit a cafè and taste our favourite drink. You can choose to get relaxed in a crowded cafè in the center of Milan, where dark suited businessmen seem to be hypnotized by their i-phones, and a busy bartender is trying to set a world record of coffees served in a minute. Or you can have a little break in a Palermo cafè, sorrounded by middle-age men and women, whose watch appears to be never running. In every Italian cafè, if you hear to someone asking for “espresso”, be sure: he’s not Italian, he’s only pretending to be one of us. We Italian, both if we are in cafè or in a restaurant, everybody ask for “caffè”. We know that we’ll be served an espresso, but we never mention it.
